GAINS News: Global Cardiovascular Research Funders Forum (GCRFF) - Multinational Clinical Trials Initiative DEADLINES

by Regina Sester | Jan 06, 2022
The GAINS Executive Committee would like to introduce you to the Global Cardiovascular Research Funders Forum (GCRFF) Multinational Clinical Trials Initiative. The GCRFF is a coalition of major international cardiovascular research funders whose aim is to improve cardiovascular health worldwide by catalysing, supporting, and promoting transformational international research efforts in heart, stroke, and circulatory diseases.
The GCRFF works to identify research gaps, coordinate multinational clinical trials, share data, and oversee the international research funding portfolio.  The GCRFF Multinational Clinical Trials Initiative is a mechanism to facilitate and fund multinational clinical trials by helping researchers in different countries collaborate on plans and coordinate funding applications for ambitious global clinical trials that might not be feasible in a single country or with support from a single funder.

For those planning multinational clinical trials, and intending to submit a global trial for grant review to more than national agency, please consider submission to this portal.  The deadline for Expression of Interest submission is 17:00 GMT, Thursday 27th January 2022, for Expert Advisory Panel meeting on 24th March 2022.

Sir Nilesh Jayantilal Samani, FRCP, FMedSci DL, professor of Cardiology at the University of Leicester, will discuss the GCRFF Multinational Trials Initiative in greater detail at the GAINS Global Trials Forum, 24-January, 8am – 10am ET.  Dr. Samani has been the driving force behind establishing the GCRFF initiative to better support trials that require funding from more than one country from multiple different funding bodies. Prof. Sir Samani is Medical Director of the British Heart Foundation (BHF), his roles include setting the strategy for research funding and overseeing the charity’s medical and healthcare activities.

Please join us for Dr. Samani’s presentation at the GAINS Global Trials Forum, 24-January, 8am – 10am ET.   The trials forum will also discuss 3 global clinical trials that are in planning stages. Please feel free to invite any other researchers who may find this initiative of interest.  Agenda to follow.
