Stroke is a devastating disease and a major public health burden, particularly in the southeastern US. To reduce this burden, the Georgia StrokeNet, run through Emory University School of Medicine, will work to accelerate recruitment into NIH-sponsored clinical trials for patients with acute stroke, people at risk for recurrent stroke, and individuals recovering from stroke.  Our primary objective is to promote discovery of effective treatments for use in clinical practice. Additionally, we will work to develop and propose new and innovative clinical trials in stroke to be conducted within the NINDS Stroke Trials Network, and to enhance the training opportunities for promising young investigators interested in clinical stroke research as a career.
